The lot is set by the producer, the packer or the first trader established in the EU (Ordinance art. 4(1)), and labels must give information on the food business operator; cosmetics need a designated responsible person (manufacturer, importer or distributor) whose name and address is on pack and who has notified the product in CPNP.

Food is read against Regulation (EU) 1169/2011 as implemented by the 2021 Ordinance (lot marking; for non-prepacked food the information is given in Bulgarian, art. 6); cosmetic labels must be in Bulgarian except ingredient names, on both primary and secondary packaging.

Foods with added vitamins and minerals are notified to the Ministry of Health before first sale with a label sample and proof that any nutrition claim meets Regulation 1924/2006, and the opinion is sent to the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (БАБХ) as control body; cosmetic claims must meet Art. 20 of 1223/2009 and Regulation 655/2013.
